Leveling in Blade & Brawn

Character Level, the average of your 4 Attribute Levels, is a single number that reflects your overall fitness. Each is scored from 1 to 100, with Level 100 defined by world record performances. Each Character Level corresponds to a Rank in your chosen Class.

To ensure progress is personal and fair, we use Body Metric Calibration, adjusting level calculations with sex, age, and body weight. A 40 year-old player running an 8-minute mile has achieved a greater feat than a 20 year-old player doing the same. We recognize that difference. This makes your level not just a comparison to others, but a reflection of how well you have forged your unique body.

But iron sharpens iron, and competition demands equal footing. We do not adjust for traits that can be trained rather than endured. Certain traits are earned advantages, not variables to excuse. In a competition between two players of equal sex, age, and weight, the one with greater muscle mass and efficiency of technique will likely perform better and stand higher in the rankings. Your level is therefore both your personal progress bar and your public banner in battle.

The 4 Attributes

  • Agility

    The capacity to change position and direction quickly in dynamic environments. Applied in dodging, parrying, and navigating terrain.

    Assessed by 3-Point Time, sprinting, changing direction, and navigating markers, a trial of speed, footwork, and directional control.

  • Endurance

    The capacity to resist fatigue through sustained generation of force over time. Applied in steady pursuits like distance running and swimming.

    Assessed by 1-Mile Time, traveling a long distance as fast as possible, proving cardiovascular efficiency and refusal to yield.

  • Power

    The capacity to generate force in explosive bursts. Applied in rapid acceleration like sprinting, striking, and throwing.

    Assessed by Broad Jump Distance, jumping forward from a still stance, measuring the propulsion of the body's mass.

  • Strength

    The capacity to generate force in a single effort. Applied in pulling, pushing, and holding against heavy resistance.

    Assessed by 1-Rep Max Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift, 3 classic trials of full-body brace, upper-body push, and grounded pull.
